Adjustment on the Maximum Validity Period of certain e-Cert, Bank-Cert and g-Cert

For enhancing security and reliability of e-Cert, starting from 1 November 2025, Hongkong Post Certification Authority (HKPCA) will adjust the maximum validity period of certain e-Cert, Bank-Cert and g-Cert from 3 years to 2 years. Details are as follows:

For Bank-Cert, e-Cert (Organisational Role) and e-Cert (Encipherment), the validity period are updated as follows:

g-Cert (Individual) / (Functional Unit)
A maximum of three years A maximum of two years

* Subscription period remains unchanged as 1 year. When subscription period of the first year expires, subscribers may choose to pay the annual subscription fee to extend the subscription period for the second year.

The maximum validity period of other e-Cert types (including iAM Smart-Cert) remains unchanged.

If you wish to apply for the above-mentioned types of e-Cert with a 3-year validity period before the effective date, please submit your application by the following deadlines to ensure that the applications can be processed before 1 November 2025:
