Hongkong Post e-Cert (Organisational Role)

Hongkong Post e-Cert (Organisational Role) certificate may be issued to Bureaux and Departments of the Government of Hong Kong SAR, organisations that hold a valid business registration certificate issued by the Government of the Hong Kong SAR and statutory bodies of Hong Kong whose existence is recognized by the laws of Hong Kong; and identifies a member or employee of a Subscriber Organisation whom that Subscriber Organisation has duly authorised the use of Private Key of the e-Cert (Organisational Role) issued to that Subscriber Organisation (the "Authorised User"). Offer of e-Cert (Organisational Role) certificates requires prior arrangement between Hongkong Post Certification Authority and the Subscriber Organisation.

Currently, e-Cert (Organisational Role) certificates are offered to the Subscriber Organisation(s) as listed in the following table.

The corresponding Registration Authority, if any, of the Subscriber Organisation will provide services to the Subscriber Organisation in accepting application forms and revocation requests from the Subscriber Organisation.

An e-Cert (Organisational Role) certificate contains the following information of the Subscriber Organisation:

  • Subscriber Organisation’s name
  • Authorised User’s name and email address
  • Authorised User’s Role as given by the Subscriber Organisation
  • Subscriber Reference Number (SRN) generated by the Hongkong Post CA system
  • Subscriber Organisation’s company/business registration number
  • An identifier of Authorised User as given by the Subscriber Organisation

Hongkong Post e-Cert (Organisational Role) certificate may be issued with a validity period of 1 to 3 years at the cost as follows:

The Administration Fee of the application will be the Administration Fee for the applied certificate with the longest validity period if the application form contains applications for certificates of different validity periods.

e-Cert (Organisational Role) is issued only with 2048-bit RSA key length.

Please note:

  • Starting from 21 August 2024, e-Cert (Organisational Role) is issued only with a maximum of 3 years validity period. For details, please refer to the relevant announcement.

Reliance Limit of Hongkong Post e-Cert (Organisational Role)

The "Reliance Limit" as defined under the Electronic Transactions Ordinance in respect of one e-Cert (Organisational Role) certificate is HK$15,000.
